Dwayne Bravo heaps praise on Matthew Potts and tips two youngsters for England glory

Matthew Potts has enjoyed a brilliant summer so far, having made a surprise England debut back in June due to an injury crisis which left several seamers sidelined.

And the 23-year-old has made the most of his opportunity, taking 18 wickets at an average of 26.72 in four stunning Test match victories against New Zealand and India.

After a whirlwind start to his international career, Potts played two matches in The Hundred for Northern Superchargers and made an immediate impression on West Indies legend Dwayne Bravo, who passed on a few bowling tips in their brief time as teammates.

"I only played two games with him, but he's a young kid who's got a bright future ahead of him," Bravo told Mirror Sport . "Obviously his strength is with the red ball at the moment with the England national team.

"I didn't really spend much time with him to be honest, but I shared a few bowling tips with him in the few games that we played together. He's on the right track, representing his country at the highest level and that's very important."

Bravo believes England is "full of talent" at the moment and named fellow Superchargers teammate Harry Brook and Birmingham Phoenix star Will Smeed, who scored the first ever hundred in the tournament, as two young stars that have really stood out to him in The Hundred.

And Bravo is keen to pass on his knowledge and expertise to young players as a mentor and would like to pursue a coaching career once he decides to hang up his boots. However, at 38-years-old, he remains incredibly passionate about playing and is keen to add to his record 16 T20 titles.

"At some point I will definitely enter into coaching, even while I'm playing I still do mentoring and coaching and try to help bowlers improve their game," Bravo added. "At the moment I'm enjoying playing, so only when I'm fully retired will I think about the coaching side of things."

This interview was done in conjunction with The Northern Superchargers, as Dwayne Bravo and the team visited Rola Wala, one of Trinity Kitchen's favourite food spots, to celebrate the launch of their special Supercharger Butter Chicken dish.
