UFC 302 is set to feature an exciting main event between UFC lightweight champion Islam Makhachev and Dustin Poirier on June 1 at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. The co-main event will see Sean Strickland take on Paulo Costa in a five-round bout.
Makhachev, with a record of 25-1, claimed the vacant UFC lightweight title in October 2022 by defeating Charles Oliveira via submission. Since then, he has successfully defended his title twice, including a knockout victory over Alexander Volkanovski in October 2023. Poirier, ranked No. 3 in the UFC lightweight division, is coming off a knockout win over Benoit Saint Denis and holds a record of 30-8-0-1.
The odds for the main event currently favor Makhachev as the -425 betting favorite, with Poirier listed as the +330 underdog. In the co-main event, Strickland, the current No. 1 fighter in the UFC middleweight rankings, is favored at -198 over Costa, who is the +164 underdog.
Additionally, UFC 303 was announced at the UFC 300 post-fight press conference, with a welterweight bout between Conor McGregor and Michael Chandler headlining the event. UFC 303 is scheduled to take place at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on June 29, serving as the highlight of this year's UFC International Fight Week.
