Dustin Poirier "bit the s***" out of Michael Chandler's fingers in brutal fight

Dustin Poirier has admitted he "bit the s***" out of Michael Chandler during his UFC victory after accusing Chandler of putting his fingers in his mouth.

Poirier and Chandler met at UFC 281 last weekend in a back-and-forth bout which could have gone either way. BUt it was 'The Diamond' who came out on top after choking out his opponent in the third round during his second submission attempt of the contest.

After the contest, Poirier immediately accused his opponent of cheating in the contest by putting his fingers in his mouth when the pair were grappling. And the lightweight contender has admitted he responded by biting Chandler, who insists his manoeuvre was entirely accidental.

“It doesn’t hurt but the leverage you get on that grip, you know, he had his fingers on my top teeth where my mouth guard is so he kind of pulled, tried to get my neck up to lock in the choke," Poirier said on the MMA Hour when discussing the accusations in the aftermath of his latest win. "It’s a lot of that. The leverage you get from gripping, that is hard for me to keep my chin down.

"But I bit the s*** out of his fingers, yeah, but I have my mouth guard and so only my bottom teeth could get him. I don’t care what the f*** the guy says in interviews or the guy he’s trying to portray. He 100 percent did. When I was elbowing, I was calling him a nasty motherf*****. That’s what I kept telling him. I can hear him blow his nose. He did it hard.

"Let me tell you this, if you go back and watch the replay of the blood falling out of his nose, yeah, it was leaking, it might be broken, whatever, but when he got it lined up where he wanted it, those huge globs that come out, they didn’t fall out. He forced them out. And it’s fighting, its war."

It was a damaging contest for both men with Poirier and Chandler left covered in blood when the referee raised Poirier's hand to declare him the winner of the contest. Despite his rival's accusations, Chandler insisted he isn't a cheat and admitted the pair spoke about the issues after the final bell sounded.

“Yes, I will admit his mouth was open and my hand went inside of there and was on his mouthpiece,” Chandler said. “He bit down, I was trying to pull it out. It wasn’t as though I was trying to pull it out, and he was biting it and I couldn’t get it out. It was more just the angle. So we had that kind of conversation. You all know I’m not a cheater. I love this game. I don’t cheat."
