The end of the auspicious Navratis takes us to the grand celebrations of Dussehra. The auspicious festival is also known as Vijayadashami, Dasara, or sometimes Dashain. It celebrates the victory of Lord Ram (who represents goodness) over Lanka king Ravana (who represents evil).
Dussehra is celebrated on the tenth day of the month of Ashwin according to the Hindu lunisolar calendar. This year the festival will be celebrated on Wednesday, October 5. It is observed 20 days before Diwali.
