Dusan Vlahovic pulls similar trick on Fiorentina as he did to Arsenal as transfer stalls

Dusan Vlahovic is currently shunning contact with Fiorentina amid January interest from the likes of Arsenal.

The Serbian is one of the marquee strikers in Serie A and enjoyed a sensational 2021.

His efforts in front of goal have attracted attention within Italy but also in the Premier League.

Arsenal are among those most heavily linked with the 21-year-old as they aim to bolster their attacking options.

The Gunners interest dates back to last year, but Vlahovic chose to ignore their advances at that point.

The player chose not to engage in dialogue with the Premier League outfit which saw the north Londoners consider other options.

However they have reignited their interest and it appears that Vlahovic is now pulling the same trick on his current employers.

Time is running out for the player to secure a Florence exit if he does plan on seeking pastures new.

Fiorentina are growing frustrated at the striker’s actions, with CEO Joe Barone claiming Vlahovic and his representatives are rebuffing contact with the club.

"We’ve not received any official bid for Vlahović as things stand," Barone told DAZN.

"We’re open to discuss and negotiate – but we want Vlahović and his agent to be clear on the future, as they’re not answering. We need to talk about it.

"[We want] Clarity from the player and his entourage. Fiorentina have a future, a group, a support and a city that must focus on this season

"I would like to talk about Fiorentina because Fiorentina plays and I want to talk about the group that deserves everything that is happening, starting with the club.

"Every day we talk about Vlahovic. On this issue Fiorentina has not received any offers. We are open to everything but we want clarity."

Arsenal face uncertainty over several of their attacking options.

Eddie Nketiah and Alexandre Lacazette will both see their deals expire in the summer whilst Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's conduct has thrust his future into doubt.

His exit may further Arteta's need for a new forward.

The Spaniard has said he and the club are open to making moves in January should it be beneficial.

He said: "If it's the right player, we can afford and we can do want we want to do, we will discuss it and come to the best possible decision. We are open.

"I think with the amount of things and the way we want to evolve the squad, we have to maximise every window in many different ways."
