A rivalry will be rekindled on Sunday, but it has been a one-sided rivalry in favour of Slaughtneil in recent times. Dunloy will be hoping they can finally get the better of the Derry outfit after three unsuccessful attempts.
The most recent meeting was just 12 months ago at the Athletic Grounds in Armagh as Mickey McShane’s side claimed a seven-point win with Brendan Rogers plundering a vital goal midway through the second half.
The Emmet’s would go on to defeat Ballycran in the provincial decider before losing out to Ballygunner in the All-Ireland semi-final.
A third Ulster title in succession is within reach for Slaughtneil and they looked as strong as ever when beating Down champions Portaferry in last month’s semi-final at Corrigan Park.
Dunloy have long been touted as challengers to the throne, but Slaughtneil will be determined to extend their reign and progress to the last four of the All-Ireland series once more.
