Dundonald housing plans for former Rolls Royce factory viewed by cllrs

Councillors have viewed detailed plans to turn a former Rolls Royce plant into a major housing development.

A special planning meeting of Lisburn and Castlereagh City Council (LCCC) allowed members to explore the full £25 million proposal ahead of any decision to be made.

The potential Lagmar Properties Limited development at Dundonald would include over 150 residential builds. The housing component of the scheme will include a mix of apartments, terraced, semi-detached and detached homes.

The former factory, which closed down 20 years ago, had previously been a site of interest for a potential Sainsbury’s store in 2014.

The latest development plan would lead to the creation of significant construction employment over three years, as well as retail units and an industrial offering.

More details of the proposals will be presented during a pre-application community consultation which will be run digitally. The plans are expected to come before LCCC planning committee for decision in March.
