Dundee boxer Paul Kean in final push before biggest fight of his life

Dundee boxer Paul Kean is finishing off final preparations before the biggest fight of his life.

The 29-year-old has just returned from Tenerife where he completed his toughest ever training camp.

He is taking on fearsome puncher, Sulaimon Olagbade, at the Caird Hall next Saturday night.

The IBO Continental title is on the line and marks the Dundee native’s spectacular rise through the ranks.

Writing on Facebook, Paul said: “Very good last spar of the camp tonight with Corey McCulloch - always tough rounds.

"Three or four hard sessions to go and the camp is done.

“Physically and mentally in the best shape I can be in now and left no stone unturned ready for anything he’s got to bring next week.”

And he added: “Thankyou to every single person who’s bought a ticket.

“Unbelievable amount of tickets I’ve done for this, Dundee have really come out.

“ I’ll make sure I put on the performance to keep the belt in this city.

“Also big thanks to my sponsors providing myself and my team with the opportunity to go to Tenerife and supporting me through out the whole camp - these things wouldn’t be possible with out everyone of them.”

Speaking to Dundee Live before he left for the Canary Islands, Paul revealed fighting in front of a home crowd will mark the highpoint of his stellar career to date.

He told us: “Fighting in Dundee as a professional boxer has always been one of my dreams and ambitions and boxing for an international title makes it even better.

“Although I bring a fantastic support to any part of the country I’ve boxed in this will a phenomenal crowd in my home town, and will mean the world to me.”

Paul - who is currently the Scottish and Celtic Superwelter weight champion and Celtic middleweight champion - is a top role model in the city, helping his dad coach the next generation of fighters at the family’s hugely successful Skyaxe Combat and Fitness Gym.

- More information on the fight and Paul's training can be found on the Skyaxe Gym Facebook page here.
