Duncan Ferguson makes Everton transfer admission for January window

Duncan Ferguson has admitted he expects "other people" to make any decisions over potential incoming transfers in the remainder of the January window.

The caretaker manager has taken temporary charge of Everton for a second time following the sacking of Rafa Benitez earlier this month.

The Blues have already brought three new arrivals to the club over the course of the last few weeks with Vitalii Mykolenko, Nathan Patterson and Anwar El Ghazi all coming through the doors.

However after the departure of the Spaniard, added to director of football Marcel Brands leaving the club in December 2021, it's not clear who will be running Everton's transfer strategy in the closing stages of the window.

Following Saturday's defeat to Aston Villa, Ferguson was asked if he was given any word that he might have an input over transfers over the closing days of the window.

However, while the caretaker boss said he would be happy to help, he expects other people to conduct the work regarding any more potential incomings.

Ferguson told his post-match press conference: "No, I've had no inkling of that.

"That'll be down to other people, who'll be making the decisions. I'm sure if they want to ask me about anything, obviously I'm here.

"But that'd be down to other people I would think."

The winter transfer window closes at midnight on January 31st 2022.
