Duncan Ferguson admits he can't wait to sink his teeth into the exciting 'project' at Inverness Caledonian Thistle.
The 51-year-old was this morning announced as the new manager of the Championship club.
The former Dundee United, Rangers, Everton and Scotland striker joined on a three-year deal in his second job in management.
He has a tough task on his hands, following on from a dismal time at Forest Green Rovers, with Caley Thistle rooted to the bottom of the table.
Having replaced Billy Dodds, Ferguson insists he's ready for the challenge upon his return to Scottish football.
He told the media: “I am really excited. It is a great opportunity for myself to be back being a manager. When I spoke to the board I got a great feeling about it. I jumped at it really. It is fantastic and it is great to be back. It has been a long time.
"I do come back to see my mum and dad but in footballing terms it has been a long time. It is a great club with good ambitions and it is a really good project that the club have sold to me. I can’t wait to get started.
“It has a lot of good history and a lot of good cup runs recently. They’ve been in three cup finals in recent years. They lost the cup final against Celtic but have a good tradition. They are a good club and I know about their history. It is a wonderful opportunity to coaching this great club.
“I am not overly familiar (with the squad). It has been a hectic few days and there has been a lot of travelling up and down the country, with meetings. I’ve had a quick look at the squad and I know results haven’t been great at the moment.
"We have a good squad and the reason they are here is because they are good players. It is just about getting the best out of them now. That’s what I will try to do.
“First things first we need to get away from the bottom of the league. We are here we are. We are adrift by four points but we believe we have a good team and a good squad. First thing is to get away from the bottom of the league.
"We will see where we go but we want to be successful this season as well. The priority is to get away from the bottom and to get a good feel-good factor again. We build from there.
“A three year contract from the club and it shows they are serious about what they are doing. It is a big statement for me. Hopefully it works out for us all and shows the commitment from both sides.”
