A dumped Liberal candidate has tasked lawyers with challenging the party's decision to disendorse him weeks out from a state election.

The Victorian Liberal Party's state executive cancelled Grant Hutchinson's candidacy for the marginal seat of Croydon, in Melbourne's east, earlier in October.
