Dumfries takeaway's biggest weekend of the year ends in flood devastation

Katie Beattie and partner Tom Gardiner just took over the Waterfront Takeaway in June.

The weekend that was supposed to earn them their biggest takings of the
year ended in devastation with Friday’s flood.

Katie, 30, said: “When we realised the flood was coming, we closed at 12.30pm for staff safety, got some sandbags and hoped for the best. We had no idea the destruction it was going to cause.”
