Dumfries prison is throwing open its doors tomorrow in a bid to recruit new staff.
The Scottish Prison Service has launched a drive to boost its workforce throughout the country at several jails.
Dumfries Governor Andrew Hunstone said: “We are looking for people to join the SPS who want to make a real difference to the lives of those within our care.
“Through the upcoming recruitment event, we are looking to reach out to those in the Dumfries area who may be looking for a career change or may be potentially interested in working within our organisation.”
He added: “We know that the prison environment and the work undertaken within our prisons often goes unseen.
“It is for that reason that we are extending this offer to people within the local community who may be interested in seeing and hearing more about the job that we do.
“This is an opportunity for people to come and see HMP Dumfries, meet the governor and see if a career with the SPS is something that they could be interested in.
“Job security and career progression opportunities are a big part of what we do.
“We invest in people to give them the skills that they need to work within our prisons.”
