A Dumfries couple celebrated their diamond wedding anniversary with a card from King Charles and an afternoon tea party.
John and Violet Parker met at dance halls in the town and tied the knot on January 29, 1963.
The couple got married at the Dumfries registry office during one of the coldest winters they remember.
Violet, 81, said: “I can’t believe it has been 60 years already. We still love each other the same way since the first day we met.
“I think the secret to a happy and long marriage is having tolerance and respect for each other. We were always getting on together.”
Their youngest daughter Laura Cowan said: “They went on honeymoon to Newcastle in January when it was freezing and snow on the pavements.
“My mum was not amused when my dad booked the cinema war film The Longest Day and had to sit through it.
“Mum also said to us that she was attracted to my dad because he looked like Elvis Presley.”
Violet was a nurse and John, 88, was a fireman who lived through many changes in Dumfries. They have four children Margo, David, Malcolm and Laura and eight grandchildren who came together on Saturday to celebrate.
“It was great to celebrate with our family and friends. I hope we get to celebrate for many years to come together.”
