Train service disruption continues this weekend.
Rail strikes will return today and tomorrow as the prolonged industrial dispute rumbles on.
The Union of Rail, Maritime and Transport Workers (RMT) has been at loggerheads with Network Rail for months in a row over pay and conditions.
Union members held strikes on Tuesday and Wednesday this week and will return to the picket lines today and tomorrow.
Although a separate dispute with ScotRail has been resolved they have warned passengers north of the border to only travel if necessary and to check schedules ahead of time.
A statement said: “Due to strike action by RMT members of Network Rail on Friday 16, and Saturday 17, we will only be able to run a skeleton service on a limited number of routes across the Central Belt, Fife, and Borders for five days from Tuesday, December 13 until Saturday, December 17 inclusive.
“These limited services will start at 7.30am and end at 6.30pm. Please plan ahead and ensure you know when your last train will run.”
“I believe we could have worked towards a settlement a couple of weeks ago until that was undermined by the stance that certain people have taken.”
