Dumfries and Galloway is officially the third best spot in the UK for a family camping trip.
New research by Go Outdoors has revealed the best places for family-friendly camping, based on a number of factors.
They include the price of a stay, playground facilities for children and those ideal for youngsters.
Dumfries and Galloway received a score of 8.04 out of 10 for being the best location for family camping.
Seventy three per cent of all campsites in the area are ideal for older children with 63 per cent ideal for young children and 40 per cent offering a kids’ playground.
The average cost of a medium tent for a family in Dumfries and Galloway costs around £20 which is the lowest price out of all the collations, including Fort William, Conwy and Cairngorms.
The region, home to the Galloway Forest Park, was also described as a perfect place for off-the-grid camping.
Camping options range from quiet ranches like Balloch O Dee to the more lively Auchenlarie Holiday Park, home to a pool, bar and bistro.
The region was also nominated as the second best place for active camping after Cornwall which got awarded first place.
Researchers found that Dumfries and Galloway has plenty to offer for those who love activities and camping.
The research showed that 28 per cent of the campsites in Dumfries and Galloway have a games room, 13 per cent have a pool and 53 per cent have fishing opportunities. Around half are also near a beach.
