Dumbarton United 2009s were crowned Glasgow and District Division Two champions earlier this month.
The season started on a sunny day back in August, with a breathless 8-8 draw against a strong Finnart AFC.
This result against one of the strongest sides in the division saw the side go on a 19 game unbeaten run - beating some of the best teams in the league along the way, which lasted all the way until April.
With the team sitting top of the league and three teams chasing hard, Dumbarton then went on another unbeaten run which included a last minute win at home to Barrhead Red Star thanks to a strike from defender Arran Rodger.
This run took them to the last game of the season away to Barrhead Red Star, with Dumbarton on 66 points and Barrhead on 64 points.
A win for Barrhead would secure them the title and promotion back to division one and a win or draw would crown Dumbarton as champions.
The game kicked off with both teams pressing for the opener, on the 15th minute Barrhead gave a free kick away 30 yards out on the left hand side.
Parents’ Player of the Year Arran Graham stepped up to make it 1-0 to Dumbarton.
On the 23rd minute Raphael Ode-Osagie smashed a strike into the top right corner, a goal that would be contender for goal of the season in any league.
The strike saw DU go into half time 2-0 and half way to the league title.
The second half kicked off with Barrhead throwing everything they had at Dumbarton.
Players’ Player of the year, captain and goalkeeper Connor Mckenna pulled off a number of match winning saves which he has done so throughout the season and the Dumbarton defence of Gallacher, Kelly, Rodger and Hastie having to be at their best to ensure the game remained 2-0.
With 10 minutes remaining Barrhead broke through the Dumbarton defence and scored to make it 2-1.
Dumbarton who did not appear fazed by this continued to control the game where they then won a free kick through great work on the right wing by McMenamin being fouled by the Barrhead defence.
Up stepped Lyle Brown who swung the inch perfect ball onto the head of golden boot winner Cameron Grace who headed home his 45th goal of the season to make it 3-1 Dumbarton.
The cheer from the away fans could be heard all the way back in the town as the ball hit the back of the net.
The final whistle blew and Dumbarton United 2009s were crowned GADYFL Division Two champions. A phenomenal season with only one loss in the league was a truly remarkable effort from all involved, with the boys presented with the trophy at Hampden earlier this month.

Dumbarton United 09s are holding trials for next season to add to the successful squad and play in tier one of the Glasgow league.
