Aberdeen star Duk is set to miss a major chunk of the new season after helping Cape Verde to qualify for the African Cup of Nations.
The 23-year-old came off the bench to help the Blue Sharks beat Burkina Faso 3-1 and seal their qualification at the weekend for next year’s finals in the Ivory Coast. It could leave Dons boss Barry Robson with a major headache as it could see him without his star frontman for the opening weeks of 2024.
The finals are scheduled to run from January 13 to February 11 with the Premiership set to close down after the New Year fixtures on January 2. Cape Verde are set to have a training camp for the AFCON finals and so Duk’s last appearance is likely to be the last game before the break, as Robson's side look to build on their third-place Premiership finish in the 22/23 term.
