Luis 'Duk' Lopes wasted no time getting on the scoresheet as Aberdeen defeated Kilmarnock 2-0 on Saturday.
The Cape Verde striker took less than 20 seconds to fire the ball low beyond Killie goalkeeper Sam Walker and then doubled his tally in the second half, with a close range tap in after fine work from strike partner Bojan Miovski. That was Duk's 17th goal of the season and helps propel the Dons above Hearts into third place in the Scottish Premiership table.
Duk has become a fans favourite among the Aberdeen support as he continues to produce performances that get punters off their seats. And he believes his opener against relegation-threatened Kilmarnock must be the quickest goal he's ever scored. He told Red TV: "I think that's my quickest goal. It's a big win, I'm happy for helping the team with the two goals but the most important thing is to win. Now we are in the top three place and we work hard for that but we keep going. We are in a good moment and we need to keep going by winning games. That's football."
The 23-year-old was eased into life in the north-east after making a late summer switch from Benfica. But since finding his feet around October, he hasn't looked back, forming a formidable alliance with Miovski as a strike duo. Miovski played his part in providing the ball for Duk to score both goals and he was quick to praise the Macedonian's unselfishness for the second in particular.
He continued: "I think it was a pass, yeah. He wanted to pass to me and I scored an easy goal. We work together so when he score, I'm happy as well so we have good teammates."
