Rangers have agreed terms with Dujon Sterling and he is set to become Michael Beale’s latest summer capture.
The Chelsea right-back is expected to head north for a medical and to sign his contract. Dujon had been on loan at Stoke City this season and they were keen to keep him but the 23-year-old has already toured Ibrox and the training ground and had talks with boss Beale.
Those discussions helped seal the deal. Sterling can move cross-border in he summer for free when his contract expires. Beale knows the player from coaching at Chelsea’s academy. Ex-England Under-20 star Sterling has had other loan stints at Coventry, Wigan as well as Blackpool. He will become Rangers’ second capture after they landed Norwich midfielder Kieran Dowell similarly under freedom of contract. Beale’s close to a deal for Manchester United keeper Jack Butland. Swansea’s Morgan Whittaker and Nottingham Forest’s Jonathan Panzo are also targets.
There will be a big revamp of the Ibrox playing squad in the coming months. A number of players are expected to depart, with Alfredo Morelos confirmed by Beale as moving on.
