A Dublin mother was left fighting for her life while she was on holiday - after a kidney issue resulted in her contracting sepsis.
Carmel Scott was on the island of Gran Canaria holidaying recently.
She began feeling pains which wouldn't go away, so attended a nearby clinic.

They administered IV medicine for a kidney infection - before asking her to return on Wednesday morning for further treatment.
Since Wednesday morning, Carmel has been in ICU as the infection turned to sepsis, RSVP Live reports.
Her daughter, Amy, told the publication "Her kidneys aren't functioning so she's on dialysis.
"Her platelets are extremely low and she's at risk of bleeding. They have weaned her off a little bit of the sedation while she's intubated but it's still very critical."
A fundraiser set up to help Amy and Carmel's family with her treatment costs has raised over €30,000 already.
"It's really comforting to see the support and the generosity and kindness of so many people," said Amy. "Not just close friends and family, but people who I've lost touch with over the years, they've all come back and rallied around us.
"My mam is such a special person, she's one of those people that makes you feel good about yourself. She puts everyone before herself and everyone's interest before her own. She's really touched people's lives.
"When her platelets come up a little bit more, she'll be able to travel home in an air ambulance," said Amy.
