A new baby rhino has been born at Dublin Zoo.
And the public can now catch a glimpse of the adorable new addition to the herd. The female Southern white rhinoceros calf was born on January 2 to mum Nyala, and she is estimated to weigh approximately 50kg. The calf joins the seven-strong rhino herd at the zoo, alongside dad Chaka and half-brother Fionn in Dublin Zoo's African Savanna.
The calf has not yet been named, and her birth marks another significant success for Dublin Zoo as part of the European Endangered Species Programme which was set up to help the survival of the rare Southern white rhinoceros. Over the next few weeks, lucky visitors can catch a glimpse of mother and calf through the window of the Rhino House or out on the Savanna.
