Dublin weather: Winter storm forecast to New Year's as wet and windy conditions to remain

It's been a wet and windy ending to Christmas with questions now surrounding how things will be until the end of 2022.

With many making their plans for New Year's Eve the weather is going to come into play. We've had a lot of rain today and there's been a chill in the wind and it looks like there's plenty more to come.

Met Eireann is saying that over the next few days it's going to get colder as 2023 arrives. Prepare for plenty more rain and wind if you're heading out and about with family and friends.

Here's what we can expect:

Wednesday, 28 December

There's widespread showers expected and even a chance of thunderstorms in parts. Temperatures will max out at 11C and there will also be plenty of wind.

Overnight temperatures will drop to 3C so while it will be cold it won't be freezing. There will be plenty of wind and rain.

Thursday, 29 December

A very breezy and showery day overall, and in some parts of Ireland there will be a chance of some sleet. It will hit around 8C at its highest in the afternoon.

The night will be even colder than the one before with temperatures hitting 0C. Still very windy.

30 December

Another windy day looks to be on the cards but there is still some uncertainty about it. Longer spells of rain are also on the cards while temperatures will reach about 9C at the highest.

New Year's weekend

Met Eireann says there is still a lot of uncertainty surrounding New Year's Eve weekend. There are signs that low pressure will bring more rain and showers. There's also the possibility that it will become colder too.
