More thundery showers are predicted for the the weekend, with heavy downpours expected today and a risk of flooding for some areas.
A cloudy and damp start this morning with outbreaks of rain or drizzle. Some bright spells will develop during the afternoon and evening along with just a few showers.
According to Met Eireann forecasters, it will stay quite warm and humid with highest temperatures of 18 to 22 degrees in moderate north or northwest breezes. Tonight it will be mostly dry, with clear spells but areas of mist and fog will form an lowest temperatures of 9 to 12 degrees.

Better sunny spells are expected further to the west with well-scattered showers, as sunny spells develop more widely across the county later in the day - though with still a few heavy showers locally. Saturday will be a dry day for most with isolated showers and sunny periods. However, it may turn cloudier in the southwest in the evening.
As the hurricane activity continues out in the North Atlantic, the Irish forecaster says “there is still some uncertainty in the details of the further outlook period.” However, at this point it looks as if “it will turn cloudy across the country on Saturday night with rain spreading to many areas from the southwest, turning heavy at times.”
Saturday night: Mostly dry at first on Saturday night but cloud will thicken from the south overnight and outbreaks of rain will spread across Munster and Connacht before dawn. Lowest temperatures of 11 to 14 degrees in a moderate southeast breeze.
Sunday: Rain will extend nationwide on Sunday, turning heavy and persistent with the possibility of localised flooding. Maximum temperatures of 17 to 20 degrees in fresh south or southeast winds. There will be further outbreaks of rain overnight, again with the continued potential for spot flooding. Mild and humid overnight with lowest temperatures of 13 to 16 degrees.
Monday: Outbreaks of rain will gradually ease and clear on Monday with dry and bright periods developing. Maximum temperatures of 17 to 22 degrees, warmest in the south. Mostly dry on Monday night with clear spells along with just the odd shower. Lowest temperatures of 8 to 12 degrees with a moderate northeast breeze developing.
