Dublin will enjoy a few more days of milder weather but a huge change is on the way.
Weather expert, Alan O'Reilly of Carlow Weather has warned that temperatures are set to plummet on Christmas Day and St Stephen's Day. Speaking on his Twitter page, O'Reilly said: "Weather models in better agreement now for a short blast of cold Christmas night and St. Stephen’s Day then temperatures rising again. Uncertainty around 28th onwards though."
Today will start off cloudy with patchy rain and drizzle. Rail is set to clear through the morning with drier weather and occasional sunny spells peeking through. The highest temperatures will be around 7 or 8 degrees.

Tonight will be dry with pockets of fog will develop, possibly becoming dense in some spots. It will turn cloudy towards morning patchy light rain or drizzle developing. Temperatures will be around 3 or 4 degrees.
Tomorrow morning will be cloudy with outbreaks of rain and drizzle first but this will clear through the late afternoon and evening with bright or sunny spells developing. The highest temperatures will be 9 or 10 degrees.
There is no further forecast for Dublin but here is what Met Eireann's national outlook says:
Friday night
"Any lingering rain in Ulster will clear early on. A mix of clear spells and scattered showers will follow for the rest of the night, most persistent and occasionally heavy along Atlantic coasts. Lowest temperatures of 2 to 6 degrees in a light to moderate southwest breeze.
Saturday (Christmas Eve)
"Christmas Eve will bring a mix of sunny spells and scattered showers, possibly turning heavy at times near western and southern coasts. Highest temperatures of 7 to 10 degrees in moderate to fresh southerly winds.
Saturday night
"A mix of clear spells and scattered showers on Saturday night. Some of the showers may be heavy, especially early on but not to worry; Rudolph's nose will help to keep Santa on track as he makes his way across the country. Lowest temperatures of 3 to 7 degrees in a light to moderate southerly breeze.
Sunday (Christmas Day)
"Current indications suggest that Christmas morning will be dry and bright for many eastern and southern areas but showery outbreaks of rain will move into the west and north. This rain will gradually make its way southeastwards across the country through the day. Highest temperatures of 7 to 10 degrees in a light to moderate southerly breeze.
Monday (St Stephen's Day)
"A colder and brighter day with scattered showers mainly in western and northern coastal counties. These showers may turn to sleet in some spots. Highest temperatures of 3 to 7 degrees."
