The freezing snap is set to come to an end as Met Eireann has forecasted milder temperatures in the days ahead.
The national forecaster said the mercury is set to rise to double digits this weekend and into next week. A Status Yellow ice warning is in place until 12pm today for all of Ireland.
The warning reads: "Icy stretches, with freezing fog in places, leading to hazardous travelling conditions."

Today will be mostly dry and cloudy with some sunny spells.
It will become cloudier by the evening and the highest daytime temperatures will be around 4 to 6 degrees. More cloudy and dry weather expected tonight with the lows of 2 to 4 degrees.
Tomorrow will be generally dry and cloudy but patchy outbreaks of rain will develop. The temperatures will be around 8 to 10 degrees.
There is no further forecast for Dublin but here's what Met Eireann's national outlook says:
Saturday night
"Mostly cloudy with scattered outbreaks of rain, heaviest in the south with hill, mist and coastal fog too. Lowest temperatures of 5 to 8 degrees in light to moderate southerly breezes.
Sunday
"Damp or locally wet to begin as overnight rain clears into the Irish Sea. Generally dry into the afternoon with more in the way of sunny spells. Highest temperatures of 9 to 12 degrees in mostly light southwest breezes.
Sunday night
"Mostly dry to start with outbreaks of rain developing in western areas towards morning. Lowest temperatures of 5 to 7 degrees in light southerly or variable breezes."
