Met Eireann has given its verdict for the Easter bank holiday weekend, with a "somewhat varied' week of weather is coming up as passing weather fronts bring a mix of conditions.
Easter Sunday is now just a week away, and the latest long-range forecast indicates that high pressure is set to dominate with anticyclones located to the east of Ireland impacting the weather at both the beginning and end of the week. It is likely that more settled conditions will be experienced during these periods.
Today Sunday will be mostly cloudy with hazy sunny spells breaking through later in the afternoon. Mostly dry with just isolated spots of light rain or drizzle possible, with highest temperatures of 10 to 12 degrees in light variable breezes.
At this stage, Met Eireann says of the Easter bank holiday weekend: ”Current indications suggest a mostly settled end to the working week, with mostly dry and calm conditions expected for Friday and the early weekend.”
According to the national forecaster, mid-week is expected to be more settled with rainfall levels to stay below average, while temperatures will stay above average. In its overall forecast for the week of Monday, April 3 to Sunday, April 9 reads: “Ireland’s weather will be somewhat varied in Week 1. Overall, high pressure will dominate with anticyclones located to the east of the country around the beginning and end of the week.
The mid-week will turn more unsettled with some passing weather fronts expected, although the overall rainfall accumulations will stay slightly below average for early April. Temperatures will be somewhat above average while the winds will be predominantly westerly or southwesterly.”
Meanwhile, next week is expected to start dull with patchy rain moving in mid-week.
