Met Eireann has issued a grim forecast as unsettled weather is here to stay.
Dublin will be gripped by subzero temperatures with the mercury plummeting to as low as -2 degrees tonight.
The weekend is set to be a washout with wet and windy weather bringing the risk of localised flooding.

This morning will see a blustery start with a mix of sunny spells and scattered showers.
Rain is set to gradually ease later in the morning leaving cloudy skies and weakening northwesterly winds in the afternoon.
It'll be a cool day with the highs of 8 to 10 degrees.
Tonight will be largely dry but temperatures are set to drop to the lows of -2 degrees with a touch of frost in sheltered areas.
Tomorrow will be clear but cold at first but cloud will build later in the morning with isolated showers developing by the afternoon. They will largely die out in the evening with long clear and dry spells developing.
Temperatures will be of 6 to 9 degrees.

Friday night
"Largely dry and clear but another cold night in store with lowest temperatures of -2 to +1 degrees. A touch of frost is possible and winds will be light.
Saturday
"Dry and sunny across much of the country, but some scattered showers in the afternoon, mainly in the north. Highest temperatures of 7 to 11 degrees with light breezes.
Saturday night
"Becoming very cloudy especially across the south of the country from early in the evening and as the cloud spreads further north across the country during the night outbreaks of rain will follow and will be heavy at times in the south and west.
"Winds will turn a strong southerly too with overnight lows of 2 to 5 degrees, staying mildest in the south.
Sunday
"Wet and windy for much of the day with possible localised flooding. Southeasterly winds will be fresh to strong with highs of 12 to 14 degrees.
Sunday night
"Continuing very wet and windy with overcast skies and bands of rain moving over the country. The rain will be heavy at times with possible localised flooding. Blustery too with strong southerlies and lows of 8 to 10 degrees."
