Dublin weather: Met Eireann forecast 'heavy bursts' of rain as temperatures plummet

Today is set to be significantly colder than the highs of 18 degrees we have had this week.

Met Eireann has warned that while today will start with some bright or sunny spells in Dublin, overall it will be mostly cloudy with outbreaks of rain arriving through the afternoon and continuing into the evening with some heavy bursts likely.

Temperatures are set to be cooler than recent days with highs of 11 to 13 degrees Celsius. Moderate to fresh easterly winds will ease later but mist and low cloud will occur more widely then too.

Tonight there will be further outbreaks of rain in the capital, heaviest early on with mist and fog persisting in some areas too. Lowest temperatures of 8 to 10 degrees Celsius, in just light southerly or variable breezes.

Tomorrow, sunny spells and scattered showers will develop in most areas of Dublin. Thankfully, it will be mild and humid with temperatures creeping back up to highs of 16 to 18 degrees Celsius, all in light southerly or variable breezes.

While there is no further forecast for Dublin, here is what Met Eireann's national outlook says:

Saturday

"A mix of cloud and sunny spells with widespread slow moving showers, heaviest into the afternoon and evening with possible thundery downpours. Highest temperatures will generally range 15 to 18 degrees, in light to moderate southerly winds. Becoming drier early in the night under broken cloud with lowest temperatures of 6 to 9 degrees Celsius.

Sunday

"Sunny spells and scattered light showers are expected during the morning and early afternoon, followed later by cloudier skies as rain and drizzle gradually extends countrywide, last to arrive to the east. Highest temperatures will range 14 to 19 degrees Celsius, warmest in the east, in moderate south to southwest winds.

"Heavy rain will follow overnight, clearing into the Irish Sea before morning. Low cloud and mist too. Very mild with lowest temperatures of 10 to 13 degrees, in moderate south to southwest winds.

Monday

"A day of sunny spells and scattered passing showers with a few heavy ones likely. Highest temperatures of 14 to 18 degrees Celsius, again best values away from Atlantic counties, in mostly moderate westerly winds."
