The potentially record breaking heatwave could end with "thunderstorms" and "heavy showers" early next week.
The mercury could go places it has never been before in Ireland as weather experts agree there is a chance the highest temperature ever recorded - 33.3 degrees - could be broken. The hot plume of air heading our way from North Africa is the reason for the hot spell.
Met Eireann have issued a rare high temperature advisory for this weekend with the hot weather set to last into next week. This hot spell will start Sunday with the advisory in place until midnight next Wednesday.
