Bitterly cold conditions could be on the way as a major weather phenomenon that caused the Beast from the East in 2018 is now in motion.
Carlow Weather forecaster Alan O'Reilly said a sudden stratospheric warming is brewing and could bring a risk of plummeting temperatures in around two weeks. He said on Twitter: "Things are warming up in the stratosphere and winds are expected to reverse soon which will make this a major Sudden Stratospheric Warming event. However once again remember this doesn’t mean we will see a beast from the East. It does increase risk of cooler weather in ~2 weeks."
Dubliners this morning, however, will wake up to a mild day with a dull and misty start in the morning with some fog and patches of light rain or drizzle. It will brighten up later in the day and afternoon temperatures will be around 11 to 14.
