Dublin’s only street art hotel offers tourists a unique, urban experience which can be found in an “underrated part of town.”
Cavan Dunne, sales and marketing manager at The Hendrick in Smithfield believes that the area is “really special” and there’s plenty of things for tourists to do before they get the Luas into the city centre.
He told Dublin Live: “Smithfield is definitely an underrated part of town. It’s really special. Token is right across from us, it’s all original arcade games like Pacman and Mortal Combat. You can play them while getting a drink and something to eat.

“Lighthouse cinema plays a lot of Irish films, they’ve a lovely bar. The original Jameson Distillery Tower brings you through the history and gets whiskey tasting experiences.
“There’s lovely restaurants and eateries too, and the Cobblestone bar - it’s a traditional Irish bar with traditional Irish music every night of the week.
“Then the Luas stop is 60 seconds from our door and it brings you straight into town.”
The Hendrick is Ireland's only and first street art specific hotel. The premise embeds that into the culture of the property.
Cavan continued: “Smithfield is a very urban, street orientated place in Dublin so it fits in with that. There’s a lot of street art around here so it ties in with that.
"The hotel teamed up with an Irish street artist and he created 300 original pieces of art for us. They’re all on display throughout the hotel, the bars, bedrooms, bathrooms, halls and so on.
“It attracts a specific type of guest to the property. We find that most of our guests are coming into Dublin for a city break, a couple or an individual in their 20s and 30s. They’ll spend a lot of time out exploring the city.
“All the rooms have fabulous views. You can see the Guinness Brewery, Christchurch, Heuston Station. You’ve the old and the new together.
“There’s a big element of sustainability. We reused a lot of the items that were a part of the demolition of the old building.
“We are self-sufficient in terms of electricity and water recycling. We’ve two tanks on the roof filled with spring water that we use in the toilets.”
