Dublin pharmacist warns against home remedies as hay fever cases spike

A Dublin pharmacy has been kept busy due to soaring pollen levels this summer.

Tomas Conefrey, from CarePlus Pharmacy on Pearse Street, noticed an increased demand for products such as anti-histamines, nasal sprays and eye drops at his city centre pharmacy as temperatures rose. However, he confirmed no shortage of hay fever medicines has occurred in his pharmacy.

The pharmacist added that persistent warm weather in recent months caused pollen levels to skyrocket in comparison to previous years. Grass pollen has now passed its peak season but Met Eireann's recent forecast suggests it remains high.
