It was a day for the record books as 25,000 runners took over the capital today for the Dublin City Marathon 2022.
Despite grim weather predictions from Met Eireann, the weather was mostly dry and sunny as the runners embarked on a massive journey along the 26.2 mile route from Fitzwilliam Square to Stoneybatter, through Phoenix Park and then back to the city via Inchicore and UCD.
Around 1,400 volunteers also gave up their time for the event, while 5,000 people flew in from overseas. Taoufik Allem of Morocco clinched the men's race title and completed the course in a time of 2 hours 11 minutes 30 seconds.
