Dublin man killed in US crash to be repatriated back home as tributes pour in

A Dubliner who sadly died following a crash in the US is set to be repatriated home in the coming days, with a GoFundMe page set up to cover expenses.

David Bermingham, originally from the Navan Road in Dublin, had been living in Dallas in the USA since 2017 with his wife Sara and their beloved dog Harvey. David graduated from St Declan’s College in 2012 and worked as a Retail Betting Assistant for Paddy Power.

On January 22, David tragically passed away in a car crash in Dallas. He is survived by his parents Cathy and Ger and his wife Sara.

David has been described as a keen sportsman, having received his Black Belt in Taekwondo in 2010 and playing competitive tennis for many years, where he was also a member of the Glasnevin Lawn Tennis Club

He was also known for having a “great love for Mexican culture, and the Dallas Cowboys NFL team. Survived by his parents, Cathy and Ger Bermingham and his wife, David has been described in his obituary as someone with a “generous heart, zest for life, and love for his Irish roots.”

A private funeral service was held on Saturday, January 28, but David will be brought back to Ireland. A GoFundMe page set up just three days ago to help bring David back home to Ireland has already surpassed its goal of $10,000.

A statement on the site reads: "Our hearts are broken as we share this tragedy with so many who know and love David. On January 22, 2023, David Bermingham gained his angel wings following a tragic car accident.

"David was loved by so many and lived life light-heartedly with an easy smile and a loving spirit. No words can express how much he will be missed by all that know and love him.

"Especially his parents, Cathy and Gerard, as David was their only son. During this time, we want to help alleviate the stress of any financial burden for David's family."
