Dublin house featured on RTE's Room To Improve on sale for €950,000

A house revamped by RTE’s Room to Improve star Dermot Bannon has hit the market for €950,000.

The two-bedroom property has floor-to-ceiling glass doors in places, allowing plenty of light to get in.

Located in Blackrock, the house dates back to 1890 and still retains its original front wall. New double glazed sash windows and a wood-panelled front door add to the “original charm” of the home.

The house featured on Dermot Bannon’s RTE show back in 2011 and underwent a full renovation. The listing on Sherry Fitzgerald said that nothing was left but that traditional façade.

Inside the front door, the work of RTE’s architect becomes evident. There are vaulted ceilings with Velux windows, hardwood oak parquet flooring and clean white walls.

Rooms in the house blend into one another, with the lounge on the right-hand side from the front door flowing into the kitchen. Beyond that is a dining room with a sliding bookshelf that can act as a divider between it and the living room.

This home has two bedrooms, with one an en suite, and a main bathroom. Sliding doors will bring you to the courtyard area, which, according to the listing, has sunshine all day. There is also a water feature set behind two granite slabs and outside lighting.

With an address of 5 Avoca Place, Blackrock, the home is just minutes away from Smurfit Business School and Crysfort Park. Frascati and Blackrock shopping centres are nearby, with Seapoint just a 15-minute walk away.

Despite its refurbishment taking place more than a decade ago, the home still looks as modern as ever, ready to house its new owners from the second they pick up their keys. This property is on the market for €950,000, a massive jump from €310,000, which the Irish Times reported it sold for in January 2011.
