Met Eireann has issued a new weather warning for thunderstorms this evening.
Thunder can already be heard in certain parts of Dublin and according to the national forecaster, there are chances of it developing into a full-blown thunderstorm later this evening.
However, the alert is only valid until 7pm which means that any possible thunderstorms should have ended by then.
Leinster was not the only county where the weather has taken a turn for the worse since yesterday's scorching heat. There is a Status Yellow weather alert for Cavan, Monaghan, Cork, Tipperary and Waterford as well.

There have been a number of Status Yellow weather alerts this June as the hot weather and humidity during the heatwave creates ideal conditions for thunderstorms.
Met Eireann's forecast for later this evening is that there will be some clear spells and isolated showers. It will be cooler and less humid than previous nights, with the lowest temperatures being between nine and 11 degrees, in a light southwest wind.
