Dublin gallery hosts exhibition featuring iconic Warhol print worth €290,000

A Dublin art gallery is splashing out with an upcoming exhibition featuring the work of Andy Warhol.

Pop Art Pioneers Exhibit will open at Gormleys Dublin later this month. The exhibition will showcase a range of impressive American pop art, including portraits of real and fictional figures.

The star attraction will be Warhol's acclaimed 'Superman', worth almost €300,000. The 1981 artwork formed part of his 'Myths' portfolio and is bejewelled with diamond dust.

Other sought after pieces at the exhibition include Warhol's celebrity portrait of Grace Kelly. The piece depicting the glamorous Hollywood actress is worth an estimated €220,000.

Work from acclaimed artists such as Roy Lichtenstein, Keith Haring and Robert Indiana will also be on display. The gallery's owner Oliver Gormley said that the value of the featured works has risen remarkably in recent times, with Warhol's pieces undergoing a 30% increase in price.

Oliver said: "Art has proven to be a fantastic investment, and we have tried to curate this collection with a range of prices in mind. We have curated this show to incorporate pieces across price ranges, with entry level pieces included."

The exhibition will run from February 25 until March 18. The event is free of charge to the public and has been described as Ireland's biggest pop art display.
