A child who was tragically killed in a crash in Co Roscommon has been named as Brandon Thomas Byrne from Clonsilla in Dublin.
The 21-month-old was on holiday in Ballinagare with his family when he was struck by a jeep near the house he was staying in at around 9am on Friday. It has been reported that the child had left his bed and wandered out of the house on his own while his parents were still asleep.
The child was treated at the scene but was later pronounced dead. Gardai are investigating the incident but no foul play is suspected. His funeral is due to take place tomorrow at 10am at the Church of St. Philip the Apostle, Mountview, followed by burial in Mulhuddart Cemetery. His funeral notice described him as "the most beautiful little light and adorable son".

It reads: "Brandon Thomas Byrne, Clonsilla, Dublin 15, aged 21 months, passed peacefully surrounded by his family who love and cherish him, 19th August 2022.
"Brandon, the most beautiful little light and adorable son of Louise Kehir and Andrew Byrne and cherished grandson of James, Noelene and Fran; Predeceased by his grandmother Margaret and aunt Siobhán. Sadly missed by his heartbroken parents, grandparents, his uncles Richard and Mark, relatives, friends and neighbours."
A garda spokesman said: "Gardai and emergency services attended the scene of a fatal road traffic collision near Ballinagare in Co.Roscommon this morning, Friday 19 August 2022. The collision occurred shortly after 9am when a jeep collided with a male infant.
"The infant received treatment at the scene but was later pronounced deceased. His body was then taken to the mortuary at University Hospital Galway where a post-mortem will take place. No other injuries were reported.
"A technical examination of the scene by Forensic Collision Investigators has since been completed and a family liaison officer has been appointed to support the family at this time. Gardai are appealing for witnesses to come forward and any road users with video footage (including dash cam) is asked to make this available to them.
