Dublin-bound train stopped after vehicle crashes into bridge

A Dublin-bound train was stopped this morning after a vehicle struck a bridge.

Irish Rail staff were alerted to the scene of the crash at Portlaoise Station this morning.

The collision resulted in the 10.25am train service to Heuston being halted at the station while the staff inspected the bridge for damage.

A spokesperson for Irish Rail said: "Services have resumed through Portlaoise station after the inspection of the bridge by staff.

"Delays are expected to services through this station as a result. The 10:25 Portlaoise/Heuston service is due to depart shortly."

Dublin Live has contacted the gardai for a comment.
