Dublin Airport warns over website showing queue times despite passengers praising it as 'excellent'

Dublin Airport passengers have been urged not to use a new website showing wait times for security at both terminals.

Dublinairportwait.ie shares real-time updates on the security queue wait time that people can expect at Terminal 1 and Terminal 2.

However, according to the airport, travellers should only follow the latest guidance on official channels operated by the Dublin Airport Authority.

It comes as long queues were reported again over the weekend, with some passengers describing the waits as "insane".

Irish comedian Dara Ó Briain was among those voicing their criticism online, writing: "Even more insane queues trying to fly out of Dublin. Important to say though, @DublinAirport, you should be on your knees, thanking your staff for the patience and charm with which they are handling this mess you’ve put them in."

He added: "In T2, it stretched out of the building into the car rental area, so probably over an hour, 70 mins, just to get though security. Obviously do online check-in and save yourself doing that queue too."

The long wait times had subsided in recent weeks after improved staffing levels at the airport.

However, people has once again been voicing their concerns about flying from Dublin, with many questioning how long they should allow to pass through security.

Some had been utilising the dublinairportwait.ie tracker, with this tool described as "very handy", "excellent", and "one to bookmark".

However, responding to a query on social media, a daa representative urged one passenger to avoid using the website.

They said: "This site is not associated with us in any way and is using our logo without permission. Up-to-date information regarding security times in both terminals at Dublin Airport is available on our app and website."

Echoing this advice, a daa spokesperson told the Irish Mirror: "The only accurate and verifiable sources of live security times at Dublin Airport are the Dublin Airport website (departures page) and the official Dublin Airport app.

"Passengers are advised to heed the advice, guidance and information held on official Dublin Airport and daa channels only."

The recommendation for passengers is to arrive at the airport up to two and a half hours before a short-haul flight and up to three and a half hours prior to a long-haul flight.

Where possible, passengers should also look to check-in online in advance of travelling to the airport.
