Dublin Airport was forced to briefly suspend flight operations this afternoon after drones were detected on the airfield.
Two drone sightings were confirmed shortly after 2pm this afternoon, leading to flight suspensions. It is illegal to fly drones within a 5 kilometre radius of any airport in Ireland.
A daa spokesperson told Dublin Live: "Flight operations at Dublin Airport were suspended for safety reasons this afternoon following two confirmed drone sightings on the airfield. The safety and security of airport users is daa’s key priority at all times and staff at Dublin Airport and An Garda Síochana remain vigilant in relation to drone activity in the vicinity of the airport.”

The daa also confirmed that flight operations on two runways have resumed following the disruption. No further information is available at this time.
Several flights were affected by similar drone activity yesterday evening. Planes were forced to divert to Shannon and Belfast Airports following the detection of a drone near Dublin Airport.
Flights were also very briefly disrupted on January 25 when a drone was spotted in the vicinity of the airfield.
