This summer has seen many hurdles faced by staff at Dublin Airport amid shortages, long queues, and cancelled flights leaving many passengers slamming its operations.
Like many businesses, the fallout of the Covid-19 pandemic left the airport trying to play catch up amid a time when they were working with minimum staff numbers.
Although queues at security seem to have subsided to an extent, now passengers are faced without another - potentially worse - issue, that is entirely out of the hands of the daa.

Thousands of people are arriving in Dublin to a sea of luggage left unclaimed, with each passenger having to sift through the chaos to find their own suitcase before departing the airport.
As a result, many people on Twitter have been documenting their experiences of losing their belongings thanks to the mayhem.
One passenger wrote on social media: “Just got back last night, just after midnight. You almost have to walk through a sea of unclaimed (lost) luggage just to get out of the airport.”
A woman affected by this wrote on Twitter today: “FIVE baggages stuck at @DublinAirport since July 25! Please help our family get our luggage back!”
A spokesperson for Dublin Airport responded saying: “Very sorry to hear this Julie. However, we don't have any role in baggage handling, nor access to any details regarding delayed/lost luggage.
“We really hope you have your items back soon.”
However a number of weeks ago, a spokesperson released information about the sea of baggage that was left unattended in arrivals, explaining exactly who is responsible for it.
They confirmed that all baggage handling at Dublin Airport “is carried out by individual airlines, or by their local ground handling agent at the airport.”
Their statement went on to say: “daa is responsible for managing the operation of Dublin Airport and for the provision of the infrastructure that is required to enable airlines and handling agents to operate.
“This means that daa maintains the baggage belts and the other physical infrastructure needed to operate the overall baggage system.
“However, daa does not employ any baggage handling staff, and it has no information in relation to missing aircraft baggage. daa does not have any role in relation to baggage delivery and passengers are advised to contact their airline or its local ground handling agent in relation to queries regarding lost bags.”
They explained that Aer Lingus and Ryanair carry out their own baggage handling operations at Dublin Airport, while international ground handling companies, like Swissport, and Sky Handling Partner, are responsible for baggage handling for the other airlines that operate at the airport.
