Dubai organized 120 events in cooperation with the public and private sectors during 2021, which directly contributed to raising the number of visitors to the emirate.

Dubai Airport has maintained its position as the world’s busiest international airport with 29.1 million passengers last year, with a relative increase estimated at 500,000 passengers as a result of the increase in air traffic in Q4 2021.

Meanwhile, preliminary forecasts indicate that the annual passenger traffic at Dubai International Airport is expected to reach 55.1 million travelers by the end of 2022.

According to information released on Wednesday, Dubai has retained its position as one of the world’s most open and welcoming cities for visitors from all over the world.

It opened its airspace to global air traffic on July 7, which enabled its return to the same strong performance levels in 2019 for all its vital sectors, topped by tourism and travel.

This achievement is the outcome of various qualitative steps taken by Dubai and its aviation sector, which accelerated the recovery rates and paved the way for hosting the Dubai Airshow 2021, the first major in-person global aviation event to be held since the onset of the pandemic.

Expo 2020 Dubai, the largest event in the history of World Expos, saw 192 participating countries coming together for ‘Connecting Minds, Creating the Future’ in a celebration of culture, innovation, and science.

The six-month mega global extravaganza attracted over 24 million visits by residents and global travelers.

This year’s World Government Summit in Dubai also brought together more than 4,000 international participants, including top government officials to share ideas for building responsive governments that can deal with the challenges of the future.

Other global events that helped drive international visits included the Dubai World Cup, Binance Blockchain Week, Gulfood, Dubai International Boat Show, and the iconic Dubai Shopping Festival.

Meanwhile, the Arabian Travel Market (ATM) 2022 concluded last week has attracted more than 23,000 visitors from across the world at its first full-capacity event since the pandemic.

The four-day event, which doubled its visitors from last year, brought together 1,500 exhibitors and attendees from 150 countries, demonstrating Dubai’s growing reputation as the globe’s most open city in the post-pandemic world.

Dubai welcomed almost four million international overnight visitors between January and March 2022, a massive 214% growth from last year, reaffirming its position as the first-choice destination for global travelers.

According to the Trip Advisor website, the city also ranked first globally in hotel occupancy in Q1 2022, with 82%.
