Dua Lipa has turned to Russell Brand for help coping with fame.
The singer, 26, bonded with the comic when he offered her support while she was struggling with online trolls, and he since put her in touch with therapists to help her navigate the music industry.
“I was interested in starting therapy and he came through with a recommendation,” explains Dua. “I was going through an intense period.”
The singer arrived in Las Vegas on Saturday to present an award at last night’s Grammy Awards, and partied at casinos while Warner Music threw a bash with Bruno Mars.
Dua says the past year - during which she split from boyfriend Anwar Hadid - has been particularly challenging.
“Life is a process,” she says. “I thought I had it figured out, then things start slipping away.
“It’s been a massive year for growth. I’ve started to understand myself in a different way. I have confidence I didn’t have before.
“I’m not the same person I was.”
Thanks to undergoing therapy, Dua says she feels “more in control”. “It takes a lot of juggling,” she adds.
Dua, speaking on her At Your Service podcast, says social media trolls affected her “deeply” and admits: “I stopped thinking of myself as myself.”
