Dua Lipa lands major new role away from music in surprise career move

Dua Lipa is going from Levitating to percolating as she has been named the newest Nespresso global ambassador.

The singer, 30, will front the coffee company’s new campaign, marking a fresh chapter as Clooney celebrates two decades working with Nespresso since 2006.

The pairing signals a clear push to connect with a younger audience, with Lipa bringing significant cultural influence beyond music.

A three-time Grammy winner with multiple chart-toppers including Training Season and Houdini, Lipa has also established herself as a fashion fixture and modern It-girl.

Her announcement of the partnership proved instantly popular, attracting more than 200,000 likes on Instagram within hours.

Lipa has already demonstrated her ability to drive trends online, most notably with a 2024 TikTok video in which she added jalapeños and pickle juice to a Diet Coke, prompting millions to try the unusual combination.

Nespresso’s chief marketing officer, Lorenzo Aizpuru, said the brand was drawn to Lipa’s wider cultural reach, including her Service95 book club and newsletter.

“She’s a true explorer, always curious, always trying something new and that energy fits beautifully with the direction we’re taking as a brand,” Aizpuru said. “Our purpose is to empower endless exploration through exceptional coffee, and Dua brings that mindset to life in a modern, effortless way.

“Together, we want to inspire a new generation to open up to new tastes with confidence and to discover how a coffee moment can become something truly exceptional.”

A spokesperson for the company also told Adweek that Clooney “continues to collaborate with us and will appear in future brand activities.

“This new campaign simply puts the spotlight on Dua Lipa, but George's long-standing relationship and contributions remain essential to Nespresso.”

The brand is no stranger to working with big names throughout the years, having previously collaborated with Sir David Beckham on their Christmas ad, as well as actors Simone Ashley, Matt Damon and Danny DeVito.

The news comes after Lipa and her fiancé Callum Turner, who is rumoured to be the next James Bond, were among the star-studded couples at the Vanity Fair Oscar Party on Sunday night.

The British singer, 30, wowed crowds in a black and gold Schiaparelli gown as she arrived at the event at Los Angeles County Museum of Art in Beverly Hills.

Meanwhile Turner, 36, stood by her side smiling and wearing a black suit with a dark grey shirt and a black tie.

Earlier in the evening, the pair attended Sir Elton John’s annual Oscars viewing party, which raises funds for the Elton John AIDS Foundation each year.
