A new study has predicted that over 70,000 Glaswegians are attempting Dry January this month.
The study, by kitchen experts Maxima Kitchen Equipment, used ONS and Google data to look at which UK cities will be the 'driest' this January - and how much the average household will save from not buying alcohol for the month.
Glasgow has been ranked the fifth 'driest' UK city in the UK, with an estimated 71,686 Glaswegians - or around 1 in 8 - attempting to stay clear of the booze until February comes around.
That equates to an estimated £3,404,349 saved in total by those participating in Dry January in Glasgow, based on the average cost of a bottle of wine from a supermarket here and an average price for a beer.

A spokesperson for Maxima Kitchen Equipment said: "Lots of people spend months looking forward to Christmas, and the chance to indulge a little more than usual, in both food and drink, it's a key part of the excitement.
"However, in January it's becoming more and more popular to try and start the year with a health-conscious mindset whether it be going dry for the month or just trying to drink a little bit less than usual."
London, as one might have expected, is set to be the driest city this January - with an incredible 1,072,154 participants prepared to give up alcohol for the entire month.
