A drummer who miraculously survived a head-on crash with a 37-tonne lorry that left him in a coma for 10 days has won a payout of more than £1 million. Gio Desogus, from Kidderminster in Worcestershire, was travelling back from work in Essex when the devastating collision took place in November 2017.
Law firm Higgs LLP said the self-employed mechanical engineer was struck head-on by the lorry on the A13 in London. Mr Desogus, then aged just 26, spent 10 days in a coma, underwent 14 operations and spent time in three hospitals, according to BirminghamLive.
He suffered severe traumatic brain injuries and a collapsed lung and was left with fractures in his left arm, both legs and right metatarsal, as well as multiple left rib fractures and nerve damage to the wrist. He described the injuries as life-changing and said his family were told he would not survive.
