Drugs worth over €600,000 seized as two arrested in Dublin raid

Two men were arrested after a whopping €640,000 worth of drugs were seized in a raid in Dublin.

Revenue officers discovered 2kgs of MDMA and 26kgs of herbal cannabis as part of two separate operations. The MDMA had an estimated value of €120,000 and the herbal cannabis was worth €520,000.

A man in his 20s was arrested in connection with the MDMA seizure and was detained at a garda station in north Co Dublin. He has since been released and a file has been prepared for the DPP.

A second man in his 30s was arrested in relation to the cannabis seizure and he is currently detained at a garda station in west Dublin. A Revenue spokesman said: "These seizures were made as a result of joint operations conducted by Revenue’s Customs Service, the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau (GNDOCB) and the Balbriggan Garda Drugs Unit.

"These operations are part of Revenue’s ongoing joint investigations targeting organised crime groups and the importation, sale and supply of illegal drugs. If businesses, or members of the public, have any information regarding drug smuggling, they can contact Revenue in confidence on phone number 1800 295 295."
