Drugs, cash and knives seized after car spotted driving 'eratically' near Sefton Park

Drugs, cash and knives have been seized after officers spotted a car being driven "erratically" near a Merseyside park.

Merseyside Police confirmed that at around 6pm on Wednesday evening, officers saw a car being driven erratically on Aigburth Drive near to Sefton Park. Following a stop and search, knives, suspected drugs and cash were seized and all four men were arrested and taken into custody.

Liverpool Community Policing Chief Inspector Charlotte Irlam said: "These arrests are part of ongoing disruption work we regularly carry out, and will remove weapons and drugs which cause harm in the community, as well launching an investigation into those we have arrested. We respond to all information about the possession of weapons, drugs and other items, so come forward directly or anonymously with what you know and we will do the rest."

A 26-year-old man from Toxteth was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs and possession of criminal property. He has been released under investigation pending further enquiries.

A 20-year-old man from Toxteth was also arrested on suspicion of possession of Class A and B drugs, and possession of criminal property. He has been released under investigation pending further enquiries.

Also taken into custody was a 26-year-old man from Islington in London who was arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon in a public place; and possession with intent to supply Class A and B drugs. He remains in custody.

A 26-year-old man from St Annes in Bristol was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs, and possession of criminal property. He too remains in custody.
